Who doesn’t want skin as soft, clear, and smooth as that of a baby? Every. Woman. Ever. Unfortunately, most of us have bumps on the forehead, and other imperfections that keep us from looking our best.

That being said, there’s a new trick out there which may sound basic at first but is totally amaaazing. It’s called the 60 Second Rule which says that when you wash your face, you should massage your facewash on your skin gently for complete 60 seconds.

What we typically do is that we quickly wash our face, giving it max 10 seconds, and then rush off to go about daily chores. This doesn’t allow the facewash’s ingredients to work their magic and clear off dirt and sebum which, in turn, leads to skin which is plagued by bumps and pimples.

If you want to improve the tone and texture of your skin, follow the 60 Second Rule by Nayamka Roberts-Smith of LABeautyologist. This esthetician is huge on Twitter and urges her followers to wash their face properly for a full minute.


“Cleansing your face (with your fingers) for 60 seconds allows the ingredients in the cleanser to actually work.  Most ppl wash their face for like 15 seconds max,” wrote the skin specialist on Twitter. She further added, “It softens the skin & dissolves sebum blockages better. Texture & overall evenness improves.”

The word spread, and several people tried the trick. Tweets under the popularized hashtag #60secondrule show that it works. Fans of the method noticed a major difference in their skin which is proof that you need to try this rule too. Since massaging your face will also stimulate circulation, skin may get softer and brighter as well.


However, please do not expect magical results. You cannot change what you actually look like overnight or even in a month. Keep realistic expectations. Moreover, do not harshly rub your skin. That wouldn’t be a good idea.
