northwest Basketball star Veronica Burton was named No. 7 overall in WNBA Draft by Dallas Wings and that moment coupled with a phone call from one of the greatest professional athletes of all time.

Tom Brady I called Burton to congratulate her on making it to the pros. Burton is a native of Newton, Massachusetts. Brady tells her he’s known her father since he was with him New England Patriots. Steve Burton is a Boston-area reporter for WBZ-TV.

Burton was a standout player for the Wildcats during her first season. She averaged 17.8 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 6.4 assists per game. It also led Division 1 in the number of steals per game, with an average of 4.
