“My love for @jk_rowling is officially over. A very sweet girl got blocked for giving simple criticism that wasn’t rude or hateful and who has loved Jo forever. She is hurt and I’m hurt. On top of everything else I’m done. The magic childhood we had is truly over,” said a Twitter user yesterday when another tweeted that Rowling has blocked her.

It all started when fans spotted that Johnny Depp would be staring in the second installment of the Fantastic Beasts series. Despite the fact that the Pirates of the Caribbean actor had been accused of domestic violence by Amber Heard, his ex-wife. This obviously left fans outraged who have taken to social media to express themselves.

One fan tagged J.K. Rowling in a tweet related to this issue. Resultantly, the author blocked her. The Twitter user, @hobbitlindsey, had tweeted, “So if I understand correctly the actor who played Crabbe, a minor character, was fired from Harry Potter for doing drugs. Yet Johnny Depp, who abused his wife, gets a major role in your movies? Correct me if I’m wrong @jk_rowling”

The next day, Lindsey reported that the author had seemed to have blocked her. Lindsay posted another tweet that said, “Me: correct me if I’m wrong Jk: *blocks me* I guess I wasn’t wrong” This act of the Harry Potter writer didn’t just hurt fans but left them shocked too. Other members of twitter came forward and said that they had been blocked too by J.K. Rowling for questioning Depp’s casting.

The wave of backlash that hit Johnny Depp took a turn and splashed over Rowling too. “This is just so, so sad. I really look up to JK, and I love Harry Potter dearly. But the whole Fantastic Beasts thing, with Depp’s involvement, really makes me cringe. Maybe she just doesn’t want to believe it, or is reminded of Dan, when he talked about his alcohol issues?”

Though there are many people who have spoken in favor of Depp and against Amber, one doesn’t know for sure where the truth lies. Though, it must be noted that Amber donated her divorce settlement sums to charity. On the other hand, Depp has the support of those who have personally known him.

Either way, supporting domestic violence – even the idea of it – is disgusting! What is even more shocking is the immature reaction J.K. Rowling is giving. Blocking fans when they have done nothing to earn it is not cool. And it is outright rude.

Reports say that the movie’s director, David Yates, has defended Johnny Depp, noting how kind and decent he is and how his former partners, Lori Anne Allison, Vanessa Paradis, and Winona Ryder have all publicly defended him.

According to EW, Yates has said, “With Johnny, it seems to me there was one person who took a pop at him and claimed something. I can only tell you about the man I see every day: He’s full of decency and kindness, and that’s all I see. Whatever accusation was out there doesn’t tally with the kind of human being I’ve been working with.”

Either way, everyone is waiting for a proper response from J.K. Rowling on this matter. Fans are very disappointed.
