The air has been cleared; Fifth Harmony will not be going separate ways after all. On Tuesday, when the news broke out the all-female band had canceled their shows in Australia, fans started speculating whether they were on the verge of branching out. Not just that but they have also taken solid steps to start their solo careers.
Social media was too sure that it was the end of Fifth Harmony. Some expressed grief, while others were actually happy, waiting for the band members to go entirely solo. One Twitterer said, “I’m really scared the girls are gonna break up and I’m not ready for them to break up yet because it they do I’m gonna cry and never get over it.”
I’m really scared the girls are gonna break up and I’m not ready for them to break up yet because it they do I’m gonna cry and never get over it and I’ve been supporting the girls ever since x factor and if they break up I’m gonna be mad/upset with myself

Yet others felt that this was supposed to happen for a long time now. One person wrote, “Fifth Harmony canceled their tour in Australia, again. Can they announce their breakup already so my girl Dinah can start recording her debut album?!” However, despite Twitter’s mixed reactions, it was pretty obvious that this wasn’t going to happen. 5H has concerts scheduled in the US and Asia, and their friendship seems to be at a good place too.
In December, they had clearly said that they planned on pursuing their solo careers as well as promoting the music that they were creating as a group. Now after all these rumors, Just Jared Jr. has reported that Normani has called all the rumors, rumors. There is no truth to what is being said.
The Love Lies songstress said, “It’s not easily understood but it’s something that we understand within each other and we’re confident women individually and also together, but we do recognize that you know at the end of the day none of us would have these individual opportunities to explore ourselves or to show the world who we are, without each other.”
The 21-year-old said that the relationship that these four band members share is beyond the understanding of most people. “Everything that we’ve been through, I feel like literally it’s us against the world and that’s together and apart. We’ll always have some place to call home which is Fifth Harmony.” Sounds like good news.
However, these band members weren’t always four. It’s common knowledge that hit singer Camila Cabello was a part of Fifth Harmony. At the end of 2016, the Havana artist decided to go solo, that also all of a sudden. Not only did this move break the hearts of fans but it also upset the other members of the gang to a great magnitude.
Not once, but quite a few times, the remainder of the group has acted rather angrily toward Cabello. Earlier this year, Cabello explained why she had left the band. “It became clear that it was not possible to do solo stuff and be in the group at the same time,” she said. “If anyone wants to explore their individuality, it’s not right for people to tell you no.” Fast forward a little time and the crew seems to be going solo along with carrying on with 5H.
The 20-year-old explained, “I think there’s a healthy amount of space you need to give certain things.” When she went her own way, ex-bandmates unfollowed her on Instagram and released a statement that said, “After 4 and a half years of being together, we have been informed via her representatives that Camila has decided to leave Fifth Harmony.”
Though Cabello said that she felt like she wasn’t being given space to chase her individual career in music, Lauren Jauregui had said in December, “It’s really cool, because we’re branching out to creatively discover ourselves, because we never really got an opportunity to do that since we started this when we were…I was like 16 when I started. It’s cool to be able to give each other that space to really explore ourselves individually and grow.”
Normani and Lauren have both signed solo management deals. It’s still to see how they will do in their individually created music and if or not Fifth Harmony will last without any glitches right alongside with this.
It is crucial to notice that though it seemed that One Direction (which was another X Factor born band) would last forever, the boys decided to divide and conquer, and it went pretty well for them too. Here’s to hoping that no matter which route 5H bandmates walk on we keep getting hits. With this – the band staying united – a lot of fangirls’ hearts have been saved.
