Stranger Things Season 2 had our spines tickling. The show managed to keep its fans hooked and made new fans as well with its thrilling episodes. But if you think that season 2 was dark, which it definitely was in comparison to season 1, season 3 will be even darker.

Barb’s death in the first season, and Bob’s in the second one, made us all cringe. It was all pretty gruesome. What should we expect from the third installment of episodes? In an interview with Deadline, executive producer Shawn Levy said, “[Season 3 is] definitely going to yet darker still, places that I think audiences are going to really love.”

However, this doesn’t mean that the show will lose its fun aspect. “It’s got so much heart and humor,” Levy further added. The third season is going to be set 1985’s summer. David Harbour has also given fans a bunch of hints.

The actor who plays the role of the Cop Jim Hopper in the show told the audience, “We’re experimenting a lot this season.” He continued to say, “And we’re taking risks, and I hope that they pay off, but they are risks. We’re going into territories we’ve never been to before, and it’s exciting.”

Moreover, he also gave fans a starting point for if they wanted to dig deeper for collecting more clues leading to what they should expect from the upcoming season. He said, “I would go look at the great films that were released in ’85, of which there were many, and just go down that list and think of the possibilities that we could be going with. I think it is a specific season to 1985, and so you’ll see references to that.”

Harbour also told fans what they should expect from his character. According to him, now that Jim Hopper has an adopted daughter, Eleven, he’s going to be a whole new version of himself. He said, “It’s like you have this third character now, who goes back to the swashbuckling guy of Season 1, but also has behind him this adopted daughter who he loves very much, so it’s really cool.”

We just hope that all our favorite characters are safe and aren’t lined up to die. Harbour has said that they’re taking risks in the next season after all. Shooting is currently underway as confirmed by British actress Millie Bobby Brown a.k.a. Eleven. We can’t wait for the next season to reach us!
