We all know that one person who is good at so many things that you just can’t stop yourself from getting impressed. You might try to get annoyed once or twice with how many skills this person has but deep down you want to be like him or her. Rihanna is that person. This lady knows no bounds. She is already a lot of things and the latest medal she has added to her arsenal is that of Fenty Beauty, her own makeup line’s success.
The diva can rock sheer clothing and coats alike. And even the most absurd of dresses. And it’s not just that she has surprised the masses, but she has actually surprised herself quite a few times as well. In a very recent interview with InStyle the gorgeous diva revealed when asked about her favorite look:
“Definitely when I wore a Jean Paul Gaultier couture gown and a doobie wrap with bobby pins to the American Music Awards [in 2013]. It was just so wrong. I couldn’t believe what I was doing, but I ended up loving it so much that I kept wearing my hair like that for the next two weeks. I pinned it every day and everything.”
The We Found Love singer also told the magazine that her inspiration for building a beauty brand came from her mum who worked at a cosmetic’s counter in her time. “That’s true. She worked behind a cosmetics counter at a department store in Barbados, and she did makeup for weddings. That’s where my obsession for cosmetics and perfume came from, but I wasn’t allowed to wear makeup unless it was for a special occasion,” said the 29-year-old.
“When I was a teen back in Barbados, I was in a pageant, and my mom did my makeup for it. I will never forget the feeling I had after seeing how even my skin looked when she put foundation on my face. And I remember my brother being so upset. He was like, “You’re gonna put that on every day?” I loved it. It’s like Photoshop. I like my makeup to look like skin—really good skin.”
The pop star isn’t one to put in half efforts, she pours in everything as proved by Fenty Beauty. Her makeup line challenged all others with its diverse 40-shades foundation collection. And she didn’t stop right there. Instead, Fenty Beauty collaborated with other brands and impressed the world some more. Rihanna’s Fenty x Puma collection was a mega hit at the Fashion Weeks.
And because she’s not done yet, she made yet another announcement today; her ninth sock capsule will come out tonight. She has been working as a contributing creative director with Stance since 2015. Ri took to Instagram and unleashed the news with a picture of the collection captioned, “thottie or nice? Tomorrow.. new #rihannaxstance for the holidays are out! (midnight PT tonight at @stancemuse)”
In her interview with InStyle, Rihanna didn’t just talk about beauty and makeup but her teen years too. Despite being perfect, the star doesn’t promote perfection. This is why her makeup is for every woman regardless of skin complexion. Her advice for this generation’s girl is the bit that every teen should follow.
“The biggest mistake you can make is to compare yourself with someone else. I hate the pressure that’s being put on us by social media. Young girls don’t know which way to go; they’re still figuring themselves out. And what we’re teaching them through social media is this idea that you have to be perfect. I just reject that at every cost. I only know how to be me, and people thrive when they’re who they’re meant to be. I can only try my best to encourage girls and women to respect their uniqueness and be 100 percent true to themselves,” said Rihanna.
