The internet is rife with memes about Kylie Jenner asking Jordyn Woods to leave her mansion where she used to live before getting comfortable with Tristan Thompson. Meanwhile Kylie’s words from her interview with Paper magazine reveal that her family had also “cut her off” once. Though in a different manner.

Talking to the outlet, the 21-year-old makeup maestro said, “My parents told me I needed to make my own money, it’s time to learn how to save and spend your own money, stuff like that.” She further added, “What I’m trying to say is I did have a platform, but none of my money is inherited.”

Jenner was referring to all the criticism that she had received last year when Forbes added her name to the list of the richest self-made American women. For this, she received a whole lot of backlash with people saying that she was anything but self-made considering she had exposure and money to make her empire work.

In her interview Kylie tried to clear the air, saying that she didn’t use a penny of her inheritance. “The self-made thing is true,” Jenner insisted. In 2015, when Jenner was 17 she’d told InStyle UK that her mum hadn’t been giving her any money for the past three years. However, an insider told People, “getting cut off is more of a technicality.”

That’s because Kylie was living with her mum at the time and using all that was there at the luxurious house. What’s more, even if Kylie’s money is not inherited, her fame definitely is. Several people had pointed out last year that had it not been for Kim Kardashian who started the show Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Kylie would never have had a social media following or influence.

So, can Kylie really be called a self-made person? Or are fans right in pointing out that she isn’t?
