Contrary to what people were expecting, Ariana Grande and her boyfriend Pete Davidson did not attend the Emmy’s. Prior to the event which was held in Microsoft Theater, Los Angeles, pictures of the seat cards surfaced on Twitter showing that seats had been booked for the SNL star and the Sweetener singer.
However, the couple decided against showing up at the big night. Grande’s team talked about her decision to not attend the event to People saying, “Contrary to reports, Ariana will not be attending the Emmys tonight.” The source further added, “Pete has also opted to not attend to be with her in New York.”
Davidson also chose to accompany his fiancé and stayed back despite his show Saturday Night Live having been nominated for several categories. SNL also took a lot of golden statues home. Their statement further read, “Given the events of the past couple of years, Ariana is going to take some much-needed time to heal and mend.”
“She will be staying close to home and using this period to spend time with her loved ones and work on new music without deadline. She thanks her fans for their understanding.” Grande needs a break from Hollywood and from the cameras and the critics constantly following her. Her ex-boyfriend passed away only 10 days before the Emmy’s. Mac Miller reportedly died because of drug overdose.
Grande also opened up on the matter on Instagram. After the sudden reports of his death came up, she only uploaded a picture of his on her Instagram page. She didn’t add any caption. Several of the late rapper’s celebrity friends came forward to offer tributes and words expressing their grief over his death. Miller, who left the world at the age of 26, was loved immensely.
Three days back, Grande posted another video dedicated to him on Instagram. The caption read, “i adored you from the day i met you when i was nineteen and i always will. i can’t believe you aren’t here anymore. i really can’t wrap my head around it. we talked about this. so many times. i’m so mad, i’m so sad i don’t know what to do. you were my dearest friend. for so long. above anything else. i’m so sorry i couldn’t fix or take your pain away. i really wanted to. the kindest, sweetest soul with demons he never deserved. i hope you’re okay now. rest.”
This is the second public tragedy that has hit Ariana Grande. Only recently had she returned with music after the awful Manchester bombing that took the lives of many.
