It’s not just Taylor Swift who has a reputation for writing songs about her exes. Dua Lipa also often turns breakups into inspiration. That’s pretty cool; to create something good from something awful. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, the New Rules songstress said, “[Some boyfriends were] emotionally manipulative. ‘And then I dated this guy who literally would never eat a single vegetable. I was like, ‘This is terrible. You eat like a five-year-old. I’m f**king out.’”

Lipa, the current hit singer whose songs tweens can entirely relate to shared that her for her song Hotter Than Hell she had driven her ideas from an ex who had thrashed her heart and the popular microblogging site Tumblr. “I was going through a tough breakup,” she said. “Someone who made me feel like I wasn’t good enough. But when I wrote this song, I wanted it to seem like he couldn’t get enough of me. ‘The song was good, but the chorus wasn’t quite there. We were like, ‘Let’s scrap it.’”

She further told, “And I was scrolling through Tumblr, and I see the words ‘Hotter than Hell’ in red on a black background. And I go, ‘That’s cool! What if he thought I was hotter than hell, and I just didn’t want him?’” That sounds very Dua Lipa, indeed. Her hip and retro personality surely gives a Tumblr vibe.

Last month, reports came out that the singer-songwriter had reached out to ex Isaac Carew following breakup with Paul Klein. For this, a fan called her out for not following her own New Rules. Dua actually fired back at said Twitter user. But the point is that with this move of hers, a lot of friends started hoping that the English artist would be creating a new set of rules as part of her upcoming album. Here’s to hoping that she really does give fans a New Rules Part II.
