Queen Bey’s performance at Coachella left everyone in awe. Including Cara Delevingne. The model took to Instagram to praise Beyoncé, sharing a snap of the Destiny’s Child reunion set. The caption of the post read, “I am speechless. That performance made me burst into tears and sent shivers down my spine. Especially the Destiny’s child reunion. ICONIC is an understatement. Thank you for inspiring so many and for lifting each other up.”

Cara’s praise of Beyoncé didn’t sit well with the audience, though. Many came forward to unreasonably slam the 25-year-old. Fans questioned why she was supporting a performance that had taken place at the music festival that she has boycotted. It’s well known that Cara has spoked against Coachella’s founder, Philip Anschutz, for previously being anti-LGBTQ.

Several reports have circulated about his anti-LGBTQ ties and pro-gun sentiments. According to Buzzfeed, Philip had released a statement clarifying that he wasn’t aware of any anti-LGBTQ views or work and that he had since stopped making financial contributions as well. Cara Delevingne has not been attending the festival, and #nochella is a cause that she wholeheartedly supports.

Cara’s post triggered comments reading hate for her, one said, “So its ok to h8 Coachella but praise an artist who goes to the show? So many double standards in media today.” However, the Paper Towns actress soon took to Instagram stories to defend herself.

She said, “Some people are commenting on the fact that I posted about my anger towards the owner of Coachella and then about Beyoncé. My hashtag was #Nochella. I still refuse to go to a festival that is owned by someone who is anti LGBT and pro gun. I am allowed to shame that man and the festival and show my appreciation of an artist at the same time.”

She further added, “Just because I love Beyoncé doesn’t mean I now love Coachella. I still wouldn’t go. And I will let nothing get in the way of me showing my love or hate for something. Don’t let anyone come between you and your truth.” About right. Cara’s post was in no way showing that she had decided to go against her own views. It was just one woman celebrating another.
